Titus 2:11-12, Isaiah 33:15, 35:8, I Peter 1:14-16, Gen. 17:1
God is a righteous God and therefore demand of His children to walk righteously on his highway of holiness. The demand for righteousness is a timeless call that cut across all ages regardless of the situation or condition we find ourselves in. God by his nature is holy and therefore requires all his followers to be holy. Without righteousness which is the nature of God we cannot be with him in eternity.
We shall divide the message into three Points.
1.THE POSSIBILITY OF WALKING RIGHTEOUSLY ON GOD’S HIGHWAY OF HOLINESS
Genesis 5:22-24, 17:1, Jeremiah 2:3, Luke 1:74,75, I Thessalonians 4:7
God has called us into a walk of righteousness and holiness. He has also provided us the grace through sanctification to enable us walk with him in righteousness. If it were not possible, God would never have demanded that from us.
There are many examples in the Bible of people who walked with God in righteousness and holiness despite their situations and the circumstances under which they lived.
All the people above were able to walk righteously on God’s Highway of holiness and we can also do that if we depend on His grace.
Above all, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ who is our perfect example lived a life without sin and without fault. (2 Corinthians 5:21, John 18:38, 19:4-6) When we look up to him, it is possible to also live a life of righteousness and holiness in our generation.
2.THE PRICE OF WALKING RIGHTEOUSLY ON GOD’S HIGHWAY OF HOLINESS
Romans 12:1,2, 2 Corinthians 6:14-18, 1 Thessalonians 5:22, 1 John 2:15-17
Walking righteously on God’s highway of holiness will require some price to pay. We should be prepared to sacrifice or give up certain things pertaining to this world if we really want to live a life that is pleasing to God.
There must be total separation from the world and its pollution. You are never going to live a righteous life if you are not willing to separate from those who will not do right. Separation is not a mean word; it is just that you have a higher calling than to live for the world; your calling is to serve the LORD Jesus Christ. If you want to become a Christian who lives a righteous life, you must separate from those who would keep you from serving the LORD.
You must avoid evil and every appearance of evil and consecrate your life totally to pleasing God and God alone. Be ready to stand alone even if others will not.
3.THE PRIZE FOR WALKING RIGHTEOUSLY ON GOD’S HIGHWAY OF HOLINESS
Psalm 1:1-3, 15:1-5,24:3-5, Proverbs 21:22
There are great rewards both here on earth and in eternity for all those who will walk righteously on God’s highway of holiness.
We can pray to God to give us the grace to walk righteously in the highway of holiness and He will do – Matthew 7:7-11.
