2 Timothy 3:1-8; Matthew 24:4-25; 2 Peter 3:3,4

It was the period of the rainy season. The dam had excess water to be released into the

river and properly channeled to avoid a flood disaster. People living by the waterside were warned against the flood; and were advised to quickly relocate. When the water from the dam was released, the flood came as predicted. Few people died in the flood because they ignored the earlier warning to relocate and move to a place of safety.

The Bible is the word of God. It tells us ahead of time of things that will happen. Ignoring what the Bible says is dangerous. In 2 Timothy 3: 1, the Bible says, “Know also that in the last days perilous times shall come”. The word, “perilous” has been defined by the English dictionary to mean “dangerous”. This means that dangerous times shall come in the last days. “The last days” means the time or period of time towards the end of the world up to the time when Jesus Christ will come in the rapture to take His friends to heaven. Indeed, we are in the Last days now. The Bible contains prophecies about the last days; things that will happen, and what the saints, friends of Jesus should do at such a time. We are in the last days! You must be prepared, do not allow the coming of the Lord to meet you unawares.

 2 Timothy 3:1; Matthew 5:18; 2 Peter 3:3,4

God in His love, desires that no one will be destroyed. God therefore, warns people about coming danger or problems before they happen. He does this to enable them to be aware on time and avoid the danger that will occur. From the Bible, we see that prophecies are words spoken by a person under the control of the Holy Spirit, about things to happen in the future. We need to pay attention to all the things written in the Bible. They will all come to pass. Not one jot of it will pass away until it is all fulfilled. (Matthew 5:18). For example, the birth of Jesus, His life, death, burial and resurrection from death for our salvation were prophesied in the Bible. They have all been fulfilled. We are all witnesses of wars and rumours of war, strange diseases, pandemic, famine, wicked acts, disrespect to parents, great breakthroughs in science and increase in knowledge, earthquakes etc., happening all over the world. The Bible has said that all these would happen.

Most things that were mentioned in the Bible that would happen in the last days as signs of the coming of the Lord have already been fulfilled. Therefore, everyone that is wise must be specially prepared and be ready to meet Jesus when He comes in the sky to take His friends to heaven. This is called the “Rapture” and will happen any moment from now.

There is no way of escape for anyone, except we repent from sin and turn to follow Jesus till the end.

 2 Timothy 3:1-8; Matthew 24:4-12; 2 Peter 3:3,4

From time to time, bad news are heard, seen or read over the radio, internet, TV and

Newspapers. This brings fear, worry and sometimes confusion to the minds of many people who do not know or remember that the Bible contains these prophecies that clearly shows us that all these things will surely happen. What are we to do when we see them happening? Jesus encourages His friends not to be troubled when they see all these things happening.

Amongst the bad things happening in these last days, disrespect for God’s laws of

Righteousness and the wicked behaviour of people is what really makes the last days so dangerous. When people live in sin, they will not prosper and punishment must follow.

Today, we see that most people love themselves above all else. Love of money, boasting, being proud, making jest of the word of God, disobedience to parents, being unthankful and unholy are very common today. Many people do things without caring that others are hurt by their actions. We see excessive anger and destructive acts, lying and deception, despising those things that are good. You also find boys and girls who are traitors, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God everywhere today. Sinful lifestyle has become so popular in the world now, and love for God and living a holy life are very scarce. Believers are being hated, punished and killed for their faith in Jesus. False Christs, false prophets and deceivers are also on the increase. With all these happening globally, we know of a certainty that the dangerous times of the last days are here! What then should be our attitude to all these things? We have the answer in 2 Peter 3:11: “Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness”. Our focus as friends of Jesus, must be to live in holiness and righteousness and patiently watching and waiting for Jesus Who will come soon to take us with Him to heaven.

 1 John 5:4; John 16:33; Matthew 24: 12-14; Mark 16:15; Matthew 28:18-20

No matter how perilous and sinful these last days may be, the victory for friends of Jesus is to walk in faith and live holy in Christ Jesus. Who has overcome the world for us (John 16:33). As friends of Jesus Christ, we must not be afraid because we have victory already in Christ Jesus over the world and every evil in the world. “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” (1 John 5:4). Being prayerful increases our strength to overcome in these last days. (Mark 14:38). Also, the gospel must be preached in every nation especially in these last days. (Matthew 24:14). We all must be part of it. If you are still living in sin, or you are a Christian rising and falling into sin, it is time to get serious and turn to the Lord with a true heart. Repentance from all sins and asking God for forgiveness through faith in Jesus Christ is the way to get ready for the coming of Christ. While waiting, you must have regular fellowship with God by daily reading His Word, thinking on what you read and obeying His commandments. Be at peace with people, and live holily and righteously all the days of your life. Get ready, the rapture will surely happen as the Bible has said. Do not ignore the warning signs. Stand on your feet, pray and make peace with God now.
